The challenge

Working with an AI agent involves more than a conversation. The work lives in files, commands and browser sessions, and each task needs a clear boundary around what an agent can do.

What we built

Locus brings agents into a native Mac workspace. They can work across files, terminal and browser, using the model the user chooses and the permissions the user sets. Specialist agent templates provide starting points for different kinds of work.

The app is free and open source, signed and notarized, and available for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later.

A workspace on your Mac

Files, sessions and prompt history stay on the Mac. Users can choose local or hosted models; using a hosted model sends the context needed for that task to the selected provider. The workspace and model choice remain separate decisions.
